Why leave Wix

Wix sites live on Wix's platform and cannot be moved elsewhere as they are. That is fine until you need faster pages, more control over SEO, a feature Wix does not offer, or simply want to stop paying a platform fee for a site you do not own. WordPress gives you full ownership, your choice of hosting and the freedom to add whatever the business needs next.

It also tends to perform better in search once it is built properly: lighter pages, full control over titles, headings and structured data, and a page for every service and area you cover.

Why a Wix migration needs care

Wix has no export tool for websites. Blog posts can sometimes be pulled out, but pages, layouts, images and forms have to be moved by hand. I rebuild your site in WordPress, carry across all the content and images, and recreate forms, galleries and any bookings or shop features.

Wix also uses its own address formats, such as /post/ for blog articles, so the old addresses will not match the new ones. I map every old page to its new address and set up permanent redirects before launch, then check Google Search Console afterwards so any gaps are caught quickly. Your domain can move with the site.

After the move

You get a WordPress site you can edit yourself, with a walkthrough and notes. Updates, backups and hosting can be handled for you on a rolling care plan, and if you want to push further in Google, local SEO and national SEO build on the new site.

Can I export my Wix site to WordPress?

Not directly. Wix has no website export, so pages, images and forms are moved by hand. That is what the migration covers.

Will I lose my Google rankings?

Not if it is done properly. Every old Wix address is redirected to its new page, and I check Search Console after launch.

Can I keep my domain name?

Yes. If your domain is registered with Wix it can be transferred, or pointed at the new site.

Do I need to cancel Wix first?

No. Keep Wix running until the new site is live and checked, then cancel your plan.

How long does a Wix migration take?

Most small business sites take two to four weeks from sign-off, depending on how much content there is.

Do you work with businesses outside Nottinghamshire?
