Local & direct

A web designer near you, not near a call centre.

Based in Mansfield and working directly with businesses across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. Every project gets a real, local developer who answers the phone.

Local web design across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire

I’m based in Mansfield and work with businesses across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, from market towns like Newark-on-Trent and Worksop to the cities of Nottingham and Derby. Each of the towns below has its own page, written around what businesses there actually need rather than a copy of the same page with a different name on it.

Everything is done remotely, by phone, WhatsApp, email and video call, so you get the same service wherever you are. Being local means understanding the area and how people search in it.

Towns I work in

Nottinghamshire

  • Mansfield, my home town, a market town with a royal charter dating from 1227
  • Sutton-in-Ashfield, shaped by coal mining and hosiery
  • Kirkby-in-Ashfield, with coal and railway heritage and an indoor market opened in 2021
  • Hucknall, Lord Byron’s burial place and a Rolls-Royce flight-testing past
  • Ollerton, on the River Maun
  • Worksop, home of a medieval priory at the edge of Sherwood Forest
  • Newark-on-Trent, a market town on the River Trent
  • Nottingham, the county’s city

Derbyshire

  • Derby, where Rolls-Royce and Toyota are among the biggest employers
  • Chesterfield, a Derbyshire market town
  • Alfreton, with its medieval church and Alfreton Hall
  • Ilkeston, home of a charter fair granted in 1252

Why each town gets its own page

Someone searching for a web designer in Worksop wants different reassurance from someone searching in Derby, and Google shows different results in each place. So each town page covers what’s distinctive about the area, how businesses there are typically found, and the services you’re most likely to need.

If your business serves several towns, the same principle applies to your own site: a dedicated page for each place, with something genuinely useful on it, tends to work better than one page listing them all. That’s a big part of what local SEO involves.

How local search works across several towns

Most local businesses serve more than one town. Google’s map results take into account how close a business is to the person searching, alongside how relevant it is and how well known it appears to be. You can’t change where you’re based, but you can make the other two work harder for you.

Your Google Business Profile tells Google where you operate. Your website then shows the range of work you do and the places you cover, with pages built for the searches people actually make. Local SEO starts from £300 a month on a rolling basis, and I’ll tell you honestly what’s realistic for your area and competition.

Most of my work happens remotely anyway, wherever you are in the UK. If your town isn’t listed, tell me where you are and what you need, and you’ll get a fixed-price quote back. SEO work in particular is done for clients across the country. Send me a message to get started.

Questions about areas and local SEO

Do I need a separate page for each town?
If you want to be found in several towns, a dedicated page for each usually works better than one page listing them all. Each needs to say something useful about the work you do there, not just repeat a list of names.
Does the price depend on where I am?
No. Everything is done remotely, so pricing depends on what you need, not where you are. Web design starts from £850 and local SEO from £300 a month.
I'm a new business with no reviews. Can I still show up locally?
Yes, though reviews take time. A complete Google Business Profile and a clear website are the right start, and a simple process for asking happy customers to leave a review helps you build them steadily.
How do I appear in the map results for my town?
Set up and verify a Google Business Profile, keep your details consistent across the web, and have a website with a clear page for each service and area. I set all of this up as part of local SEO.

Outside Nottinghamshire? Still worth asking.
