Who I am

This website is run by Simon Says Web Design, a web design and SEO business based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. In this policy, “I” and “me” mean Simon Says Web Design. I’m responsible for looking after any personal information you give me through this website. You can contact me at hello@simonsayswebdesign.com or on 07572 422758.

What information I collect and why

• Enquiries. If you use the contact form, email, phone or WhatsApp, I collect the details you give me — usually your name, an email address or phone number, the type of project and your message. I use them to reply, give you a quote and, if you go ahead, do the work. My lawful basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, and my legitimate interest in running my business.
• Clients. If we work together, I also keep what I need to deliver the work and invoice you, such as contact and billing details and project files. My lawful basis is performing our contract and meeting legal obligations such as tax and accounting rules.
• Technical information. Like any website, the server that hosts this site records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. I use it to keep the site secure and working. My lawful basis is legitimate interests.
• Website statistics (only if you agree). If you accept analytics cookies, I use Google Analytics, through Google Site Kit, to see how the site is used: which pages are viewed, how visitors found the site, roughly where in the world they are and what device they use. My lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time (see “Cookies” below).

I don’t sell your information and I don’t add you to marketing lists. I’ll only contact you about your enquiry or project unless you ask me for something else.

Cookies

This site doesn’t set cookies for advertising. The fonts used on the site are hosted on the site itself, so your browser doesn’t contact Google to load them.

If you choose “Accept” on the cookie notice, Google Analytics sets cookies (for example ones beginning “_ga”) to tell visitors apart and measure how the site is used. If you choose “Reject”, or don’t choose, analytics cookies aren’t set; Google may still receive basic, cookie-free signals about the visit, which it uses for its own statistical modelling. You can change your mind at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer, or by clearing the cookies and site data in your browser.

WhatsApp and links to other sites

The WhatsApp button opens WhatsApp (run by Meta) only when you click it; nothing is sent to WhatsApp before that. Anything you then send is covered by WhatsApp’s own privacy policy. The same applies to links to Facebook, Google and the websites of my clients: once you leave this site, their privacy policies apply, not mine.

Who I share your information with

Only the people and services I need in order to run my business: my website hosting provider and email provider, Google (if you accept analytics cookies), and professional advisers such as an accountant where needed for invoicing and tax. They handle your information on my instructions or for their own security and legal duties. Some may process information outside the UK; where that happens, I rely on safeguards such as UK-approved transfer arrangements.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiry messages for as long as I need to deal with them and follow up reasonably. If we work together, I keep project and invoicing records for as long as the work needs and for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting. When I no longer need information, I delete it.

Your rights

You can ask me to show you the personal information I hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how I use it, or give it to you in a portable format. Where I rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To do any of these, email hello@simonsayswebdesign.com and I’ll reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

This website is for businesses and isn’t aimed at children.

Changes to this policy

If I change how I use personal information, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
