Hacked WordPress site repair

Common signs include visitors being sent to spam or scam sites, pages you did not create appearing in Google, a "This site may be hacked" or red "Deceptive site ahead" warning, your host suspending the account, unknown admin users, or the site suddenly slowing down or showing errors. Sometimes the site looks normal to you but not to visitors or search engines, because the malware hides from logged-in users.

If you see any of these, act quickly. The longer malware sits on a site, the more damage it does to your search rankings and your customers' trust.

First I take a full copy of the site as it is, so nothing is lost. Then I scan the files and database for malicious code, remove it, and replace WordPress core files and plugins with clean copies from their official sources. I check for hidden admin users, back doors and scheduled tasks the attacker may have left behind.

Cleaning is only half the job. I find how the attacker got in, usually an out-of-date plugin, a weak password or a vulnerable theme, and close it. Passwords are reset, security settings tightened and everything updated. If Google has flagged the site, I help you request a review once it is clean so the warning is removed.

Most hacks happen through software that has not been updated. A rolling care plan keeps WordPress, plugins and themes up to date, takes regular backups and monitors for problems, so if anything does go wrong it can be fixed from a clean backup quickly.
