Try Blogging and Making Money Online – The Risk is Very Small

Try Blogging and Making Money Online - The Risk is Very Small

Try Blogging and Making Money Online – The Risk is Very Small

It’s now easier than ever to have your own blog. You don’t need to be very technically savvy or even know how to write code. So if you’re on the fence about whether to start blogging or not, I suggest you get off and get started creating your own blog. Once you get your blog up and running, you can easily start making money online. It’s just a matter of heart and motivation, really. The persistent ones are the successful ones.

To make a blog you will simply need:

  • A domain name (~$10)
  • Hosting (~$10 a month)
  • wordpress (Free) (There are other blogging platforms too, but I highly recommend wordpress! It’s really the standard.)
  • A wordpress Theme (There are tons of free themes available for download online, or you can pay for Premium Themes.)

If you want to blog with the purpose of making money online then it’s best to think of your blog as a business. If you could start your business for about $20, that’s a really easy decision to make.  The initial investment for internet marketing with blogs is incredibly small.  Since the investment is so small we are not at a big risk when we fail. And we usually all fail at least a few times. Blogging’s small initial investment also allows people to create lots of different sites without putting all their eggs in one basket. I learned more about making money online from my failures than anything else. I lost money along the way but it’s paid off in the end.

Give blogging a try. Just imagine where you’d be if you were making money online and not at some crappy job spending your days. It’s a great opportunity and anyone can really do it if they have the motivation.

Optimize Your Blog With These 8 Tips For WordPress SEO

Optimize Your Blog With These 8 Tips For WordPress SEO

Optimize Your Blog With These 8 Tips For wordpress SEO

So you’ve got a wordpress blog, have made some posts but are hungry for more traffic. I’ll assume you are putting out unique, quality content.

There are many things you can do to get more traffic, but one of the first things you need to do is optimize your blog for the search engines. If the search engines don’t notice your blog, you’re not going to get a lot of traffic, at least not the free kind. Here are 8 tips to optimize your wordpress blog for SEO.

Keyword Research

Your Main Keyword

As you will see in the rest of this article it is important to have a primary keyword that you are going after. This is the keyword that you want the homepage of your blog to rank for.

It should be related to your niche, have decent traffic but not be overly competitive so that you can rank for it realistically in the long term. For example, I’ve recently decided to go after “Network Marketing Online” which has decent traffic but over time can realistically be ranked towards the top.

Once you have decided on your keyword, put it in your title tag, heading and the anchor text of backlinks. As a general rule of thumb, the sooner the keyword appears in a title, permalink or body copy the better.

Sub Keywords

You should also do keyword research for each new blog post and page that you create, though you will generally want to go after less competitive keywords than your blog’s main keyword.

Make sure the keyword appears in each blog title, permalink and 2 or 3 times in the body of the post particularly in the first and last paragraph or even sentence if possible. Again the sooner you can have the keyword in the title, permalink and body the better.

Title Tags

The title tag is probably the most important onsite factor and if you don’t get this right, you are leaving a lot of traffic on the table. Best practice for title tags is to include your brand name + 1 or 2 of your sites MAIN keywords.

Hopefully you know what keywords you want your blog to rank for. If not go and find some good keywords for your niche now! (I actually did a video on Free SEO Keyword research in an earlier blog post that you can check out).

You can choose to leave the brand or blog name out of the title tag. Leaving it out can boost your rankings slightly (as you’ve probably got the brand/blog name in the domain name) but leaving it in can help build your brand, so this one’s up to you.

Search engines have a character limit on title tags for what shows up in the search engines result page. Each search engine has a different limit but keeping your title tag to less than 65 characters including spaces will be under the character limit of the main search engines.

Meta Tags & Keywords

Once upon a time, Meta Description and Keyword Tags were very important to your search engine rankings. Today however they don’t impact your ranking very much and google has openly said that they don’t take the Meta Keywords into account at all.

However, the Meta Description is still important for another reason. When your blog shows up in the search engines, a snippet will be displayed which is your Meta Description. A well written Meta Description may not affect search engine rankings but it can definitely improve click through.

As for the Meta Keyword Tag, it doesn’t hurt to use it (unless you stuff it with keywords) and smaller search engines may still place some sort of importance to it.

A Permalink is the URL for a post. The default wordpress permalinks don’t help you at all as they are usually EXAMPLEURL/?p=10 or something similar which isn’t at all sexy and won’t help you in the rankings or in the searcher’s eyes.

Instead change your permalink structure so that they display what the post is actually about.

To do this go to Settings >> Permalinks and then change the format to /%postname%/

Now whenever you do a new post, the title of your blog post will be used in the permalink. As you should have a keyword that you’re tring to rank for in the title, it will also appear in the permalink, thus increasing search engine ranking.

If the title is long, then make sure to shorten the permalink. For example EXAMPLEURL/what-should-i-have-for-dinner-tonight-i-feel-like-pasta-but-its-a-lot-of-carbs-maybe-i-should-just-have-a-salad which I concede is a very extreme example, wouldn’t make a very good permalink nor would http:// …well, you get the idea.

ALT Attributes

ALT A tributes are used to display alternative text, usually for an image. This could be because an image isn’t showing, for a text browser or for visually impaired readers. But alt attributes can also help you in the search engine rankings, not just for the image section, but for the overall rankings as well.

wordpress applies alt attributes to images automatically based on the file name. E.g. if your image is named “the-stig.jpg” (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t like the stig?) the alternate text will become “the-stig”.

So whenever you upload an image to your blog, make sure name it something relative to the post or page (a keyword for example).

This is something admittedly that I haven’t been doing up until now. Basically interlinking is linking to another page or post within your blog. Only do this if what you’re linking to is relevant. I’ve given an instance of this above where I linked to a video I did on keyword research because it was relevant to what I was talking about.

Building a blog should be viewed as a long term process. There are many more SEO techniques that you can apply to your blog, but these 7 are some of the main ways to optimize your wordpress blog for SEO and will start you on your way to big search engine traffic.

Website Templates and What They Mean For Your Business

Website Templates and What They Mean For Your Business

Website Templates and What They Mean For Your Business

There are literally hundreds of companies selling premium or free website templates.

So what does this mean for your business?

If you’re looking to start your first, or second, web based venture, templates can considerably reduce the overall cost of building a professional website.

A Common Misconception about Templates

Many people assume that because a website is developed using a template, that it will be low quality. This may have been the case 10 years ago, however today; there are thousands of professional graphic designers who make a living designing websites and selling them. One of the biggest sellers of professional templates is Template Monster. Just this company alone sells for tens of millions of dollars on a yearly basis.

Free or Premium Template

If you’re serious about your business then I highly suggest you pay for a professional designed template for your new website. I have found that free templates tend to be lower quality, since the designer is simply looking to create a free downloadable product for people to use and then market his services. You can find very professional website templates for $30 to $100. Here is a list of templates and their approximate cost:

  1. HTML Templates – $30 to $60
  2. wordpress Templates – $60 to $85
  3. Joomla Templates – $60 to $85
  4. Drupal Templates – $60 to $85
  5. Magento Templates – $120 to $240
  6. OSCommerce – $100 to $200

Template Customization

Once you’ve picked out a template you can purchase and download it. Now keep in mind that other people will be able to download the same template. In order to give it a unique look, specific to your company you will need to hire a website template customization company. They will add your logo, insert content, change colors, change the background, etc., etc., basically anything you want. There are no limits.

How Much Will I Save?

Many people who are now starting online business do not have large budgets. When I had a website created 9 years ago for a company I owned, it cost me $8000. Today, by using Open-Source software and website templates you can get the same result (or better) for less than $3000.

Case Study

We’re going to do a small case study so you fully grasp the concept (I’m all about examples).

We had a client contact us about 1 month ago to build a website for an online school. She was offering home schooling courses for stay at home moms. Based on her requirements we decided to go with wordpress as the content management of choice. wordpress is one of the most popular, and most user-friendly, open-source CMS’s available and since she had limited knowledge of websites, this would be perfect. Also she needed a subscription based system of which wordpress has a lot of good plugins available to accomplish this. She started by picking out a template. Then we had a phone conversation with her where she shared her vision and what she wanted it to look like. Because we were using a template she had picked out, we didn’t need to create a design from scratch and this ultimately saved her a lot of money. Once we complete the customization of her template we installed wordpress on her server and set up the structure of the website (menu, links, pages, etc). In all it took a little under 3 weeks to complete and cost just under US$1600.

10 Reasons To Use a Website Template For Your Business Website

10 Reasons To Use a Website Template For Your Business Website

10 Reasons To Use a Website Template For Your Business Website

e Here’s a little known fact – many website designers use website templates. Some are free HTML templates, others are CMS templates for wordpress and Joomla (to name a few). Sure, they change them according to their clients’ instructions – but it’s true – if you hire a website designer/developer, chances are your website will be based off a template (unless the project is specified as a custom job and/or it’s a very large project).

I don’t say this to criticize website developers; instead, I’m making the point that using a website template as a foundation (or as-is) for your website(s) – no matter your site’s purpose, is a very good way to go for several reasons.

The benefit to a website designer using a website template is obvious – it saves time, which results in more money and/or more competitive pricing.

If you’ve decided to build your own website using a template, whether a wordpress theme or free HTML template (for instance), you’ve made a very, very good decision. I can’t tell you how huge of a positive impact to my business learning to build my own business websites has made. I don’t code my sites from scratch – I use website templates.

When you know how to launch a site and add content to your site – you have a terrific advantage over your competitors because you save a lot of money getting your information, new products, new testimonials, etc. online immediately.

In fact, the big cost working with a website designer isn’t the up front cost – it’s the monthly fees for adding content and managing your site.

10 Reasons For You to Use a Website Template Are as Follows:

1. Save Time

You can go about it one of two ways.

Find a template platform you like (i.e. for wordpress: Genesis, Builder, Thesis, etc. or HTML templates and know you’ll be revising the design a fair amount). Or,

look for a website template that is as close to what you’re looking for as possible to minimize the amount of customization work.

Moreover, if you decide to install and set up the template yourself, you can be your own webmaster. That’s what I do for my small business. I have a huge advantage because I can make changes and add content any time I like. I don’t have to send instructions to and then review the work of a webmaster.

2. Save Money

This is an obvious advantage. For less than $100 you can have a fantastic website launched that’s fully designed. There are also free HTML templates, wordpress theme, and Joomla templates available. But that’s not where the cost-savings end. In fact, the real cost-savings is the fact you learn how to manage your website which will save you webmaster fees every month. This is the true advantage; one that I’ve realized cost savings into the thousands of dollars over the last few years being my own webmaster.

3. Website Templates are Well-Coded

Well, usually well coded – buy from reputable template vendors. If you hire a web developer, and you absolutely know nothing about coding, you’ll never know if it’s well coded. Template vendors generally stay up-to-date with the latest coding practices which means the foundation for your website (even if you make changes) will be well-coded.

There are no barriers to entry for web developers – anyone can put up a website and get business. When hiring a web developer, you get what you pay for. Besides, unless you instruct otherwise, chances are your developer will use a template – something you can do and save the hundreds or thousands of dollars you pay simply for a template set up by a website developer.

4. Website Templates Look Great

A lot of work goes into designing a great website. When you buy a template, you get a great looking design for a fraction of the real cost of designing the website.

Moreover, you can shop around until you find the perfect looking template. Chances are you’re not sure what kinds of designs are available and what type of design you want for your website. Shopping and researching templates gives you an idea to hone the vision and design you want for your website(s).

5. Built-In SEO Set Up

These days, more and more templates such as wordpress themes, Joomla templates, and website builders include search engine optimisation configuration options. This is incredibly helpful so that you can optimize your website from the start. Many website developers and designers build nice sites, but don’t pay any attention to search engine optimisation (I know from personal experience – my first website I hired out had no SEO work done on it at all. Yet I assumed when the site would be built that it would be built so that it would get search engine traffic).

6. Templates are Easy to Use

You can find paid and free templates that let you customize the design without knowing a single line of code. Note that not all templates offer this. If you want easy customization, be sure that your intended template purchase has this feature.

7. If you Use CMS, You Can Add Unlimited Content Extremely Easily

CMS stands for “content management system” which means the ability to add content easily (in a nutshell). 2 very popular CMS platforms are wordpress and Joomla. With wordpress and Joomla, without knowing any coding at all, you can write articles and blog posts (including using images and videos) very easily and quickly simply by clicking buttons (no coding knowledge needed).

If you opt for an HTML template or Flash website (non-CMS), you can easily add a CMS platform to the static HTML site – and then get the best of both worlds.

8. Take More Control of Your Web Marketing

There’s huge opportunity on the Web. If you’re a small business without a huge marketing budget, then why not learn how to market your business online yourself? I did, and my business grew incredibly. Moreover, I was able to target the exact customers I wanted and it worked.

9. Immediate Results

When you rely on a webmaster, there’s a delay in getting content published. When you’re in control, you can get your content – whether a sale, new service, media mention, new testimonial – published immediately.

10. Online Marketing Can Result in the Greatest ROI for Small Business

I firmly believe that the greatest marketing opportunities are on the Web. Not only is it the most inexpensive form of marketing (if you learn it yourself), but it’s highly effective. When you take control of your business’ online marketing, you’ll get plugged into the latest online marketing techniques to try and use for your business.

Common Concerns With Buying a Website Template

Concern #1: My Website Won’t Be Unique

I have two responses.

  1. The chances of a competitor of yours using the same template (whether a paid or free template) is so remote that I don’t worry about it. For my small business, I use the wordpress Enterprise theme (as is). I know not any of my competitors have a website remotely similar to mine.
  2. You can very easily change the color and layout for most templates (especially wordpress, Joomla, and website builders) so that you can make any of these templates your own.

Concern #2: I Don’t Know How to Code or Where to Start

Granted, if you decided to build your own website with a template, there is a learning curve. But, it’s not hard. When I started building my own business websites, all I knew was surfing the Web and using e-mail.

A few weekends monkeying around with wordpress and I was up and running pretty quickly.

Concern #3: What If I Need Help with my Template?

Most template providers offer a variety of support options such as a forum (more helpful than you think), tutorials, support ticket system, telephone support, and/or live chat.

Moreover, most template providers offer custom help services which can offer direct help. The custom support service costs additional fees – but costs a fraction of hiring a web developer building you an entire website.

Concern #4: I Can’t Find Exactly What I Want

Keep in mind that the license with most templates gives you permission to revise the template (if not, do not buy it). My point is all templates can be changed and customized.

If what you want is beyond your skill, ask the template vendor if they can customize it for you (or refer you to a reputable developer to do it). The extra cost for some customization is much less than hiring a web developer to take full charge of your entire project.

Concern #5: I Don’t Have Time

I thought this at first, but am glad I didn’t succumb to it. Marketing is a necessary activity for any business. I made it a priority. I invested some extra time each week and it’s paid off very well.

7 Steps to Automate Your Online Business and Increase Sales

7 Steps to Automate Your Online Business and Increase Sales

7 Steps to Automate Your Online Business and Increase Sales

Today’s entrepreneurs care about being passionate about work and knowing that it has a larger meaning. As entrepreneurs, we like our work to make some impact and help to make the world a better place. At the same time, however, we like our work to be successful. Doing well by doing good. With the worst recession in decades in our rear-view-mirror, today’s entrepreneurs need to be extremely creative and do things efficiently. These 7 steps to automate your online business will increase sales and simplify your operations.

Automation is the key to building a successful business with fewer resources. To create awesome companies, as a team, and to use technology, ultimately to better the world is a common goal of today’s entrepreneur. But at the same time, today’s entrepreneurs don’t have the financial resources available to hire a team of workers. So the more that today’s entrepreneur can accomplish solo, the better.

Finding the formula to entrepreneur success is not going to be an easy journey or a simple task. You need to work at it. However, if you use these 7 steps to online business automation, you can start finding the success and building the future you have always wanted.

7 Steps to Building an Automated Online Business:

Here are seven steps that you can take on your journey to becoming a self-employed, free and highly successful entrepreneur without breaking the bank.

1. Build a wordpress Website

The most popular content management system available today is wordpress. As today’s entrepreneur, you will want to select the right content management system to build your website. wordpress fits the bill. It’s free, its secure, its customizable so you can implement these automation tips into your website and get close to reaching your goal of building an automated online business.

Choose a professional wordpress theme that is clean, fast, and responsive. We recommend StudioPress wordpress Themes. They are powered by the Genesis Framework, which in layman’s terms, means that the behind-the-scenes nuts and bolts of your website will be search engine friendly, responsive with instant updates and airtight security. Don’t waste time with the wrong wordpress theme. Choose a framework that is state-of-the-art and one that will update with the click of a mouse. Many sites are hacked (or just don’t use wordpress to the fullest) because they have not been updated and with StudioPress themes, the act of updating your code to the most recent technology takes just a click. Updating to the current version of wordpress and Genesis a snap. Everything is integrated, so you don’t have to call your developer. Save time and money.

First Impressions Count: Your website is only as good as your design and your web hosting company.

2. Build your Email List

Email marketing is a powerful tool that can extend your reach beyond your website and create new sales opportunities. If you’re not building an email list, you’re making a huge mistake, so get started right off the bat with your new business and begin building an email list.

Any networking event provides excellent opportunities to collect business cards, which can then be manually added to your email list. But if your like most entrepreneurs, there is not enough time in the day to attend every Chamber of Commerce event. So, in order to build your email list, you need to automate. The easiest and most effective way to automate your email marketing efforts is with Aweber Email Marketing. I have tried them all and I always come back to Aweber.

First, you need to determine who is your target audience. This simple exercise will help. First, answer these questions:

  1. What do your ideal subscribers want?
  2. What’s the main problem they have that you believe you can solve?
  3. What’s your method for solving that problem?
  4. What do you love to talk about more than anything?

Once you’re done, you simply combine them all. These are the people you are catering to. This is your target audience.

3. Write Compelling Content

The most effective way to grow visitors to your website or blog is to write compelling content. Yes, that’s right. The time you spent in English class in high school will finally come in handy. When you’re writing content, you will want to think about the audience you’re trying to reach… and call them out. Write evergreen content that helps, informs and satisfies your target audience.

  • Evergreen content is timeless content that is still relevant. You could go through your archives, or you could also use a wordpress plug-in like Revive Old Posts to simplify the process. There is also a killer tool that I use called MeetEdgar that allows you to publish a post and then automatically recycle your top posts several times on a schedule.

The number of subscribers you have is directly related to…

  1. Your ability to drive highly-targeted traffic to your blog.
  2. Your ability to convert that traffic into FIERCELY LOYAL subscribers.
  3. Your ability to get your readers to promote and refer you to friends.

Now it’s up to you you to take action and build your email list with compelling content.

4. Build your Social Media Profiles

When it comes to online personal or business branding, the creation of social media profiles is absolutely essential. Think of each social media profile you create as a landing page for your brand. This landing page is possibly the first encounter that someone is going to have with your brand, and you will want that first impression to be golden and make the visitor want to know more about you.

10 steps you need to follow to create a successful social media profile:

  1. Your name – Be sure to enter the name you want to be found under.
  2. Your username – Think about what people will search for you, and make sure that your username is included in the URL.
  3. Your profile pic – Use a professional photograph, but not so much that you don’t illustrate some personality. Be sure to stick with the same picture as your default photo from one network to the next. This way people easily recognize you across all social networks.
  4. Your link – Make sure that your link is front and center so that people can find it quickly and click through to your website.
  5. Your bio – Take advantage of this to share only the best about yourself and your brand. And always – always – link to your website or landing page.
  6. Your interests – Look at these fields as an additional place to get some great keyword value. Find books, documentaries, and profiles of influential people in your industry and add those in these additional fields.
  7. Your background – A customized background will allow you to share additional information that may not fit in the fields of your profile.
  8. Your privacy settings – These vary from network to network, but you will want to make sure that the information you would like to be public is viewable.
  9. Your activity – Once your profile setup is complete, your on-going mission will be to maintain a healthy level of activity on your main social networks, which for most will be Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Automate this! We like Buffer. It’s inexpensive and a great way to keep your social media activity at peak performance.
  10. Your promotion – your website!

If you are short on time, concentrate on the Social Media Big Three:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn.

Don’t forget to interlink your profiles to each other. If you can share multiple links on a social profile, make sure some of those are to your main social profiles.

5. Sync your Blog or Website

Add social share buttons onto your page or automatically post on social media whenever you publish a new article. Additionally, with Step 2 (above) you will have the ability to create a blog broadcast with Aweber so that each time you publish a new blog post to your wordpress website, Aweber will use your post to create dynamic newsletter and broadcast your content to everyone on your email list.

Why? Because research shows that the lead nurturing process today takes seven to eight “touches”. These seven to eight touches that it takes to qualify a lead are crucial components of the lead nurturing process, allowing marketing the opportunity to educate and inform prospects as they move through each stage in the buying journey. These touch points are opportunities to prepare leads for the final stage in the buying journey, the point of decision-making.

  • Sync your social media profiles to landing pages that are specific to your visitor. Our favorite automation tool for conversion optimisation is Thrive Leads Landing Pages. Build an automated sales funnel that runs a highly optimized.
  • Sync your website with an opt-in form so that your visitors can easily subscribe to your newsletter:
    • Aweber has many templates that you can use to add an opt-in form to your website.
    • ThriveLeads has many different “triggers”. Trigger options can be the following:
      • Show on page load
      • Show after a certain period of time
      • Show when the user scrolls to a specific part of the content
      • Show when the user scrolls to a percentage of the way down the content
      • Show when the user is about to exit the page (exit intent) – this trigger option does not work on mobile devices.
      • Show when the form enters viewport
      • Show when the user clicks an element
      • Displays on click.

Customize which opt-in form displays, when and where with ThriveLeads. You can organize all the forms you want to display automatically on the site into different Lead Groups. Within each Lead Group, you can create and edit multiple opt-in forms at once, set them to appear in multiple places, and set up A/B tests.

We “connect” our ThriveLeads form to Aweber’s API so that when a visitor completes the opt-in form, their email address is automatically added to our master email list at Aweber. And from within Aweber, we have a blog broadcast setup so that when a new blog post is published, a nifty newsletter is automatically created using their templates and sent to addresses in our list.

And finally, we use Aweber’s form templates to display a static and well-designed, professional opt-in form in the sidebar of our blog. Again, when a visitor completes the form, their email address is automatically added the master email list managed with Aweber.

These steps may just be your path towards a more successful online business. The better the experience and the more valuable each of these important steps are, the more ready your leads will be to make a buying decision, and the more likely they are to convert to paying customers. The result is a highly organized, efficient buying journey that runs like a well-oiled machine. And one item that cannot be automated is you! Starting a Hip Hop Blog – 5 Easy Steps to Rap Profits

Starting a Hip Hop Blog – 5 Easy Steps to Rap Profits

Are you a hip-hop artist, producer, entrepreneur or fan who wants to make money in the rap industry? Have you ever thought about starting a hip-hop blog? Believe it or not, hip-hop blogs are becoming more and more popular, and there are plenty of opportunities for hip-hop bloggers to make money online. If the idea of getting paid to share your thoughts and opinions about rap is music to your ears, here’s how to get started.

Step 1 – Choose a Domain Name and Web Host

A domain name is the website address that people will use to visit your blog. In general, you will want to choose a domain name that is easy to remember and gives people an idea of what type of content they will find on your site. Examples of things you may want to use as a domain name are:

  • Your stage name (if you are an artist)
  • Your company name (if you have an entertainment company or independent record label)
  • Your blog name
  • Catch phrases or descriptive names

Chances are, your first option for a domain name will already be taken, so be prepared with alternates.

Once you find an available domain you like, you will need to register it quickly to prevent someone else from using it. There is a small domain registration fee, but many web hosting services will waive the domain registration fee when you sign up for hosting.

Step 2 – Install wordpress

wordpress is blogging software that has been used to power over 200 million websites. There are a number of reasons wordpress is so popular:

  • Affordability – wordpress is 100% free
  • Ease of Use – It does not require any computer or programming skills to install or use
  • Highly Customizable – There are thousands of free themes and plug-ins available for download
  • Supported – wordpress has one of the largest development communities of any open source software, so it’s easy to find free technical support online

wordpress can usually be installed in less than five minutes through your web hosting control panel. Once installed, you can customize your blog by downloading the hip-hop theme of your choice and installing whichever plug-ins you want to use through your blog’s dashboard.

Step 3 – Start Publishing Hip-Hop Related Content

Once you set up your blog, you will be ready to start publishing content. In general, you will want to publish content of interest to hip-hop fans. This could include:

  • Hip-hop related news
  • Music, videos and images featuring rappers
  • Reviews of new rap music
  • Information about upcoming hip-hop events
  • Links to other hip-hop blogs

If you are a rapper or producer, you should have no problem creating content based on your own music. Similarly, if you are starting your own entertainment company or independent hip-hop record label, you can blog about the artists you’re working with. If you are not in the music business at all, you can spend a couple of hours each day reading other hip-hop blogs and write a post each day about the hottest hip-hop topics. The key is to create as many good hip-hop related posts as you can each week.

The posts you publish on your blog will eventually be “crawled” and “indexed” by the major search engines (google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.). Once indexed, your blog will start showing up in search results for hip-hop related content. The more posts you publish and the better the quality of those posts, the better chance you have of people discovering your blog through search engines.

Step 4 – Monetize Your Blog

There are lots of ways to make money as a hip-hop blogger. Here are some of the easiest ways:

  • Join an advertising network and earn money each time someone clicks on an advertisement on your site
  • Join an affiliate program and earn commissions by recommending products and services you use to your readers
  • Install a free e-commerce plug-in and sell your own CDs, digital downloads and hip-hop related merchandise
  • Sell ad space directly to artists and labels who want to promote their music through your site
  • Turn your blog into a membership site and charge people a fee for access to exclusive content
  • Charge a small fee for each CD you review on your blog
  • Charge people to post their rap videos on your blog

These are just some of the easy ways to make money as a hip-hop blogger. Experiment with each of these methods and see which methods earn you the most cash. Or, be creative and come up with something entirely new. As long as you keep coming up with content and getting traffic, the money will come.

Step 5 – Promote Your Blog

Now that you have got your hip-hop blog up and running, you need to start promoting it. The more targeted web traffic you get, the more money you are likely to make. Therefore, it is important that your blog gets seen by as many hip-hop fans as possible. Here are some free ways to promote your hip-hop blog:

  • Add your website to as many hip-hop friendly website directories as you can
  • Become an active participant in hip-hop forums and conversations on other hip-hop blogs (be sure to include a link to your blog in your “signature”)
  • Set up pages on social media sites like Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, and link them to your blog
  • Talk to other bloggers about reviewing your site, swapping links and possibly writing guest posts
  • Write hip-hop related articles and submit them to article directories (like this one)

By following these quick, easy steps, you can start your own hip-hop blog and be on the road to rap profits in a matter of hours.
