But of course, every piece of good news comes with a downside, and that is the following: reaching a #1 ranking in google takes a lot of time, a lot of work and there are no shortcuts (sorry!). There aren’t even many “SEO secrets” that aren’t already known by most webmasters. However, there are 5 very straightforward SEO tips I can give you, a webmaster, if you’re looking to increase your search engine exposure and reach the first page of google‘s SERPs (Search Engine Results Page):

1) Title Tags. If you asked me, “What is the easiest, quickest way to improve my google ranking, I’d say it’s optimizing your title tag. Your title tag is the title of the webpage you want a higher rank for. The title for the page you’re on right now is probably something like, “How to Rank Higher in google with my Top 5 SEO Tips.”

If you are trying to rank a site that is about Jungle Gyms, you probably want your title tag to be something like, “Jungle Gyms – Safety and Maintenance” or if you’re looking to sell Jungle Gyms, maybe something like, “Buy Jungle Gyms at Discount Cost.” You get the idea.

Here’s the summary: figure out what your potential readers/customers will be searching for to find you, and make your title tag something very, very close to that. google thinks Title Tags are extremely important, and you should too.

2) Site content. Even if your title tags are optimized, the content of your site must closely match what your audience is searching for. If you’re selling Jungle Gyms but you don’t have the words “Jungle Gyms” anywhere on your site, google will think your site is about something else, and it won’t show your site to people who search for “Jungle Gyms.” Especially important is to put your target keywords in your header tags (H1, H2, etc.), as google sees these as especially important pieces of content on your site.

3). Inner linking. Try as much as you can to link to all the pages on your site, within your site. For example, if you have a page on your site that is about Jungle Gym safety, include a sentence on that page about Jungle Gym maintenance, and link your readers to that page, as well. Not only does this help readers navigate through your site, but it helps google spiders crawl your site, and this helps your sites get ranked. Also, make sure to include the proper anchor text. So, do not include a link that says “Click here,” or else google will think your site is about “clicking here.” Make your anchor text something like “Jungle Gym maintenance.”

4) Anchor-text optimized backlinks. Speaking of backlinks, you’re going to need them. A lot of them. Backlinks are the single most important factor to SEO. If you do not have high quality, anchor-text relevant backlinks, you’re never going to reach the top of google‘s SERPs. Aside from having a great website that other webmasters will link to naturally, the best way to get high quality backlinks is to create them yourself.

You can get backlinks from article directories like this one, you can post in forums with your site in your signature, you can post in blogs, you can submit your site to various online directories, and much more. Spend the majority of your time bolstering your backlink profile (and invest in SEO software, if you must), because that is what google looks to when they want to decide if your site is legitimate or not.

5) Patience, patience, patience. This is probably the best tip I can give you. 99.9% of site owners try to understand SEO and eventually quit, because ranking their site took too long. It’s a cliche, but it’s true: Search Engine optimisation is a marathon, not a sprint. You won’t rank #1 overnight. It never happens. Ever. You’ll need persistence above all, and with the right SEO tools, SEO training, and SEO strategies like the ones I’ve given you above, you too can be one of those at the top.

google search engine optimisation is not something new for anyone. There are some basic things that almost everybody knows and then there are some other not so obvious things. This article is a discussion of the secrets to google search engine optimisation which includes the not-so-obvious things.

So let us start by discussing the already known aspects to ensure that we set the foundation right. As you might already be aware off, optimisation involves on-page and off-page SEO.

The on-page SEO consists of the following.

  • Including the keywords in the title, description and in the URL, if possible.
  • Create the “keywords” meta tag with the main keywords for your website. Keeping the keyword density to about 3% of the total content.
  • Create some backlinks from the inner pages to the webpage you want to optimize with the same keyword as the anchor text.
  • You might even want to work on your LSI keyword usage etc. but these are all complicated stuff for me and I do not recommend all of these to any newbies.

All of what you have done above gives google a fair idea of what are the keywords that you want to get ranked for and starts the process of google search engine optimisation. But this is just the start of the process. Now you need to get into it in a bit more detail and “stamp your authority” to show google, your intentions. This is done by the “off-page” SEO.

The below is all that is involved in “off-page” SEO.

  • Get a huge quantity of good quality backlinks preferably from webpages that are PR4 or, higher.
  • Ensure that you use the same Keyword as the anchor text.
  • Ensure that the links point to the inner pages of your websites rather than the home page because this is what looks more natural.
  • Create more backlinks with a diversity in IP and work more to get more of.edu and.gov links.

All of these above said aspects of SEO are what majorly forms a part of Search Engine optimisation. This is what normally most of the people interested in google search engine optimisation does, but there is one final step that decides if all of the above work produces results or, not.

This is to get the pages that are backlinking to your indexed by google. How will you do it? This is important because it is only then that your backlinks will carry value and get your up there in the search results.

The easiest way of doing this is to send a ping about these webpages to the various pinging services. You may also want to place a link to these pages on the various web 2.0 sites. You can also write a few blog posts at places like Tumblr which would in turn ensure that these backlink pages get indexed by google. Though all of these might sound a costly affair, it is not. Everybody wants a place sat proudly at the top of google so much so that they try all kinds of methods to get there, however the only one that really works is google SEO. google search engine optimisation is basically implementing the webmaster guidelines and trying to make you site content as spider friendly as possible.

Over the past 5 years google has become more and more focused on off page SEO factors, as far as their ranking system is concerned and this means they give less weight to your actual site content and more weight to how popular you are within the sites on their index. In this article I want to take the time to give you some basic google SEO factors so that you can start to optimise your pages for the google.bot.

Off page factors relates to getting links and the quality and quantity of those links is going to be a massive determining factor in how close you get to the top of the SERPs. So what makes a quality in bound link as far as google SEO is concerned?

The first aspect of your link simply relates to relevance, how relevant is the page linking back to your site? Is the page URL, title, heading and body content relative to your webpage? If not google will hardly notice it and you will not get an increase in PageRank. Make sure your links are as relevant as possible, this is one of the main aspects of google SEO.

The second aspect is ensuring your link is coming from a site with as high a PageRank as possible. I have mixed feelings about this as I have seen pages rank for competitive keywords and have links coming from PageRank 0 sites only. All I will say is the more high PR links you have the less low PR links you’ll need. Try and build up a mixture of both types.

The third aspect of google SEO is making sure your links are anchored with your keyword text. Do not make the common webmaster mistake of linking back using your name or the classic “click here”. Doing this is an absolute waste of a link. If you are selling cars link back using text like “used cars sale” or “car finance”, this will give your site relevance and keyword authority and is the most important aspect of google SEO. One word of warning when using this method though, do not use the same anchor text every time. You need to use variations otherwise it will look like keyword manipulation and your site could be penalised.
